NOVA Chemicals Shares Funding Announcement Supporting Bluewater Health

SARNIA & PETROLIA – March 18, 2024 – Earlier today, NOVA Chemicals announced a $500,000 contribution to cancer care in Sarnia-Lambton. The generous donation will help to support Bluewater Health’s Cancer Clinic, which is undergoing a major renovation throughout 2024 and 2025 to allow for a more spacious and modern facility for patients and families.

“We are so grateful for the generous support from NOVA Chemicals, who have long been a huge advocate for healthcare here in Sarnia-Lambton,” says Kathy Alexander, Executive Director, Bluewater Health Foundation. “It is thanks to the support from our community and generous donors like NOVA Chemicals that Bluewater Health is able to continue providing the highest standard of care locally; NOVA Chemicals truly understands the importance of this and we are so lucky to have them as a major donor.”

As a token of gratitude, Bluewater Health will be naming the redeveloped space for NOVA Chemicals to recognize their generous donation.

“This significant contribution is a demonstration of NOVA Chemicals’ long-standing history of investing in the well-being of the communities where we live and work,” says Joseph Wolf, Manufacturing East Vice President, NOVA Chemicals. “As the only cancer care provider in Sarnia-Lambton, sustainability of services is critical. By supporting the redevelopment of Bluewater Health’s cancer clinic, we are fostering hope, resilience, and enhanced access to life-saving care for many years to come.”

Bluewater Health Foundation has now achieved just over half of their fundraising goal of $3.7 million for the project, which will see a complete overhaul of the second floor Norman building. The redevelopment will bring together Oncology, Pharmacy and the Laboratory in a network of services to provide a seamless patient experience.

“Sending my sincere thanks to NOVA Chemicals for this substantial donation and their ongoing support of local healthcare,” Say Paula Reaume-Zimmer, President & CEO, Bluewater Health. “The cancer clinic sees dozens of patients each day, and it is an important space within the hospital for providing vital, life-saving care. NOVA Chemicals’ contribution will certainly have a positive impact on those patients and families who come to Bluewater Health for treatment.”

The updated cancer clinic is expected to be complete in the spring of 2025.
