Bluewater Health Foundation Reaches Helipad Fundraising Goal

SARNIA & PETROLIA – February 1, 2023 – Earlier today, Bluewater Health Foundation Executive Director Kathy Alexander shared the exciting news with Lambton County Council that the foundation has reached their fundraising goal of $912,000 for Bluewater Health’s helipad.

Last year Lambton County Council generously approved funding of $400,000 towards the helipad, with remaining funds graciously donated by the Sarnia-Lambton community, including a $100,000 contribution from Charlotte Eleanor Englehart Hospital (CEEH) Foundation.

“Community support makes all the difference,” Alexander says. “We are so grateful to Lambton County Council, CEEH Foundation and the many incredible people in our community, including a generous donor who matched $10,000 in gifts. When Sarnia-Lambton comes together, amazing things happen – thank you to everyone who made this possible.”

Since becoming certified for day use by Transport Canada, the helipad has been used on numerous occasions to transport patients requiring specialized urgent care in other parts of the region, including SickKids in Toronto.

“It was important that the County of Lambton support Bluewater Health’s helipad,” says Kevin Marriott, Warden, County of Lambton. “We know how valuable this resource has been and will continue to be in our community. The helipad means faster access to life-saving care when it’s needed most and will greatly benefit Lambton residents.”

In 2022, the foundation focused its fundraising efforts on the helipad with great success. In December, a double your donation campaign, supported by a generous local donor, raised over $47,000.

A portion of Dream Home lottery sales have also been supporting priority projects at Bluewater Health, including the helipad. Dream Home lottery tickets sales close today at 11:59 pm. There is still time to purchase yours, visit bwhfdreamhome.com.
