Women Supporting Women

By Danielle Cooper, Foundation Staff

On Thursday, October 25, over a dozen women including makers, entrepreneurs, creatives, and social media influencers gathered together for an evening in this year's Dream Home where something magical happened.

The original purpose of the gathering was to celebrate and promote women entrepreneurs in the Sarnia-Lambton community while showing off this year's home, spreading awareness of the cause it benefits (Mammography at Bluewater Health), and encouraging folks to buy tickets to support.

Items from each of the makers were placed throughout the house and two talented photographers roamed around and snapped shots showing off both the products, and the house itself.

It was all incredible leading up to that magical moment I mentioned above. Each of us gathered around the beautiful harvest table (selected by this year's Dream Home Lottery decorator extraordinaire, Lori Bambury of Brush Strokes Interiors) with the intention of simply introducing ourselves. But quickly, introductions turned into beautiful, raw stories; stories of how some got into business, the hurdles and hardships in running your own business, how some struggle with mental illness, some with weight and body image, and one who is currently battling cancer.

What transpired was nothing short of inspiring. There was lots of laughter, conversation, a few tears, and overall, so much support that we all felt it days after.

We hope you will consider this year purchasing a Dream Home Lottery ticket to support the purchase of two new mammography machines at Bluewater Health. Learn more about the lottery.
