Bluewater Health Foundation Announces Winner of Dream Home

SARNIA & PETROLIA – February 15, 2024 – This year’s grand prize winner of Bluewater Health Foundation’s Dream Home Lottery has been announced. Linda Weeres of Sarnia has officially been revealed as this year’s lucky winner. The 50/50 prize of nearly $324,000 was also drawn today, with Sarnia’s Gwen Rogers selected as the winner.

The 2024 Dream Home lottery had the largest prize board in its 29-year history, boasting over 10,973 prizes valued at nearly $1.7 million. Since its inception, the lottery has raised nearly $10 million for Sarnia-Lambton’s community hospitals, Bluewater Health and Charlotte Eleanor Englehart Hospital (CEEH) of Bluewater Health.

“Thank you to everyone who purchased tickets in support of the Dream Home lottery, and thank you to all of our incredible sponsors for helping to once again make this year’s Dream Home Lottery a huge success,” says Kathy Alexander, Executive Director, Bluewater Health Foundation. “We are thrilled to see this lottery continuously grow thanks to the support of our exceptionally generous community here in Sarnia-Lambton. This is our largest fundraiser, with all proceeds supporting your local hospitals, Bluewater Health and CEEH of Bluewater Health.”

Proceeds from this year’s lottery will help to support fundraising efforts for the redevelopment of Bluewater Health’s Cancer Clinic. The lottery is a combined effort between both the Bluewater Health Foundation and CEEH Foundation, with funds distributed equally between the foundations.

“The partnership we have built with Bluewater Health Foundation is crucial in supporting local healthcare and funding vital, life-saving care,” says Mark Braet, Chair, CEEH Foundation. “I am continuously amazed by the generosity and support of the Lambton County community – thank you to all who supported and are involved in the Dream Home Lottery – this is truly a team effort.”

This year’s grand prize, a sprawling bungalow home built by SGC Modern Homes and designed by Bayview Design Group, is located in a charming lakefront community in Blue Coast Heights, just steps from a private beach. The home, valued at over $1.2 million, is fully furnished and decorated by Soulside Living & Design and features stunning details including a grand entryway with vaulted ceilings, a bunkie room, home theatre and game room.

“The Dream Home lottery is the largest fundraiser in support of the hospital; it’s success means we can fund critical infrastructure and upgrades needed to ensure the best standard of care for Bluewater Health’s patients and families,” says Paula Reaume-Zimmer, President & CEO, Bluewater Health. “It’s truly a win-win for everyone and we are grateful for the immense support from our community.”
