Bluewater Health Receives Donation of Mason's Power Poles

Hospital stays for paediatric patients are getting a little easier, thanks to a generous donation from the Fight Like Mason Foundation. 10 customized IV poles - called Mason's Power Poles - were presented to Bluewater Health and Bluewater Health Foundation staff at a ceremony in the Maternal Infant Child Unit this morning.

The IV poles are brightly coloured and topped with a variety of different characters and superhero symbols. Bluewater Health is the first hospital outside of Windsor-Essex to receive the unique donation.

"A clinical environment can make hospital stays difficult for anyone, let alone children, so that's what makes this gift truly incredible," said Kathy Alexander, Executive Director, Bluewater Health Foundation. "Mason's Power Poles will help make sure we are providing a more child-friendly environment for our youngest patients. We're truly honoured to be able to accept this donation."

The Fight Like Mason Foundation was formed by Iain Macri and Chantelle Bacon after their son, Mason Bacon-Macri, passed away after a battle with Rhabdomyosarcoma in 2016. In the end stages of Mason's battle, the family was inspired to create the custom IV poles to help make the home palliative environment less intimidating and scary for him.

"Fight Like Mason Foundation is very proud to donate Mason's Power Poles to the paediatric unit at Bluewater Health," said Chantelle Bacon, President, Fight Like Mason Foundation. " Our Mason's Power Poles are for all the kids fighting their big battles. They are there to make them proud of their fight, keep them strong, and make them smile.”
